Catch 22 – Joseph Heller

Catch-22Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The whole novel is a catch-22. Only by being insane is it possible to be sane, it appears. Thus, to me, war and the pople trapped in it can be described in a way that makes sense. Everything, even the whole Milo storyline which I, to be honest, only understood half (his logic totally escapes me), makes complete sense and draws a realistic picture of being in that squadron. Obviously I have never been in or experienced a war, but I’d imagine you can only be a Yossarian to come out of it alive. Okay.. you could also be a Milo or General Scheisskopf (D’uh on play of words), but I’d rather be Yossarian. Or Orr.

So yes, it was difficult, it took me a while but it is worth it. I also hoped the first sentence would come true… *g*
